Navman F20

Navman F20 ReviewRating: Date: 30/01/2007 The Navman F20 is an entry-level sat nav system for motorists on a tight budget. It's a good value system if you don't want to spend a lot on sat nav.
The design of the F20 is quite nice, with a touchscreen for menus and navigation, plus handy keys for functions like finding the nearest petrol station or car park. The touchscreen is small, at just 3.5 inches across, but this is comparable with other entry-level sat nav systems, and has the advantage of making the unit very portable. The navigation is by 2D/3D mapping on the screen with voice directions too. There's a special motorway navigation tool and pre-installed speed camera data to assist with your journey. Mapping is pre-installed and restricted to the UK. However there is a spare SD memory card slot for plugging in additional maps.
The F20 is easy to use, via the touchscreen menu, with support for postcode entry of locations, and storage for favourite destinations. It is also compatible with the optional T1 Traffic Pack for real-time, subscription-free traffic updates in the UK, France, Germany, Belgium, Denmark and the Netherlands.
Battery life is average, with a maximum of 3.5 hours use. An in-car charger is supplied, so for longer journeys you can hook up the Navman to the 12V supply in your car. Alternatively you can recharge the device using a USB charger plugged into a PC. It's also possible to import a list of places of interest via the USB connection.
Overall the F20 does the job, is easy to use and highly portable. It lacks the bells and whistles on more expensive GPS devices, but is a good value starter system.

Reviewed by Adrian on 05/06/2008 A top item, had the F20 for 10 months and it's only failed me because of new roads being built, don't all gps systems have this problem, a family member has a tom tom and that costs £200+. so update your maps when you can. This system tells you where speed cameras are and have been planned, cash machines, parking and petrol (the last two at a touch of a button). I always have it plugged in to a power source when driving anyway, and from an auction site I got a mains charger for it when needed, and as with navman you just buy the traffic system once. I have never needed more in this time around Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol or Southampton. As for the voice choice it's a gps not a companion. Rating:
Reviewed by Kevin pinder on 26/01/2008 i have this nav and find it only lack in the voice department! this is because it becomes very boring as only 2 voices are selectable ! this is a system thats very easy to use and very very portable. i am happy but just wish this F20 would have the fascility to change to more than just 1 male and 1 female voice. very good value for money and i use it daily! Reviewed by mark on 10/10/2007 The best GPS that you can get for this price where you can add additional maps not matter where you going USA or Spain also connect to free traffic updates and you will not lose satelite signal in very build up areas under bridges and so on like my previous GPS did.Fully charged battery will last for a good 2-3hours Rating:
Reviewed by mitstreet on 07/10/2007 At first I was impressed by this system and I got the Navman F20 from Ebuyer at a great price. I charged it using a mains adapter which I bought sepeately. It worked fine accepting that on the first two occasions on using the machine kept on telling me to do a number of u-turns..these were pointless and I disregarded them , it was not as if I was going the wrong way. however on a journey to Cornwall , while it got me there ; on returning the next day the battery was dead even though it was on charge all the way down and all the way back (12v car accessory point) I checked the charge : it was fine. So, no help coming back. I am trying to find out if you need to keep removing the unit every night and recharge it. It showed on charge but would not work at all when connected to car. This is a big concern as I was led to believe this was not the case. Rating:
