Reviewed by Mike on 24/07/2011 I bought this to replace a Navman that had a worn out battery. It is sensitive, & has a good strong battery. It has a fast start-up and a good clear display with a sensitive touch screen. The only irritating this is the beeps when the speed limit changes and you can only turn this off by silencing the audio altogether which you can't do if you are getting it to speak the directions. Apart from that it's a good capable satnav. Five stars here. Rating:
Reviewed by Andy on 25/07/2010 This unit is a cracking bit of kit. I use the 205W for my job (milk tanker driver) collecting the milk from the farms, it has never let me down, we all use them on my job, we all swear by the Garmin 205W. Rating:
Reviewed by Steve on 05/03/2010 I ended up with a Garmin Nuvi 205W quite by chance. I previously owned a Tomtom which was absolutely brilliant. Simple, easy, reliable and accurate. Sadly, it was stolen. I bought a replacement from Halfords but went for the upgraded model. When it worked it was every bit as good as the earlier model however it seemed to have difficulty finding a signal - something I had no problems with before. I took it back to Halfords where I bought it. They suggested they replace it with this Garmin model as they'd had several Tomtoms replaced for the same reason. I went with it and wished I'd stuck with the Tomtom. I don't like the Garmin at all. Its unreliable. Its inaccurate. I don't find the screen display anywhere near as good as the Tomtoms. It too has difficulty finding a satelite - especially indoors. My advice try before you buy. Rating:
Reviewed by John on 05/11/2009 Have used this in UK only and found this to be extremely easy to set up and use. Accurate on every trip made and have been working in all parts of of Britain this year...would not be without it. Rating:
Reviewed by Jeff on 25/06/2009 Bought it for France and most unimpressed. Route selection poor and journey time estimates way off unless you are a rally driver. Phantom roundabouts, instructions to turn onto roads that didn't exist, misdirections, slow reactions. Poor satellite acquisition. Ended up using the map because it was safer. Wouldn't recommend it Rating:
Reviewed by Andy on 03/12/2008 Used one of these once, the first one i have ever used. Have to say it was spot on. It kept me informed of speed limits on roads I was on and informed me very accurately of up and comming spped cameras etc. Its easy to use and set up using the touch screen. It may not be the top of the range with all the bells and whisltes etc but it was very accurate when directing me on a journey over 200 miles each way and never made a wrong turn etc. I new this as I had done this journey many times before.
