Reviewed by Phil Claridge on 06/08/2011 Hi John/Andy Could you post the details here as got the same problem and I would guess many people have got the same problem and have paid to fix it but may be able to save a great deal of money. My TV only does this every few months then returns to normal again so I guess its a connection problem rather than a complete failure. I would gladly take the tv apart to sort out the issue but it would save a great deal of time if I can have direction of where to go once the covers are off. Phil Claridge Rating:
Reviewed by Paul Setchell on 02/07/2011 Same problem here. Half the screen in shaded, usually clears within 20 to 30 mins but it shouldn't appear. Image retention is quite bad but does clear after a short time. Pictures are excellent. Shame about the build quality. Will be buying Panasonic again next time. About a year or so before the dreaded half screen shading appeared. Only started happening when I started falling asleep with it still on. Was fine while I was using without the sleep/standby option. Maybe just coincidence. Rating:
Reviewed by Andy Wray on 13/04/2011 Hi John Cummings, could you send details of where to get those clips and how to fix them?. TV had same problem, engineer came and fitted a new board, worked great, but 4 months on and out of warranty its flickering in the bottom half of screen. I had a 36" Panasonic before that lasted 10 years without a blip, still looked like new when I replaced it. 18 months of new plasma and two faults, not good progress for engineering reliance! Reviewed by Haydn Perkins on 08/01/2011 At just under 12 months old the bottom half of the screen would occasionally go completely black, other times its would go dark but still display the picture. Currys picked the set up and carried out a repair, but inside of two months later its failed again! I've asked for a refund or store credit, but been told it has to go back for repair again. Not happy. Its hardly small or light, and replacing it with a 42" whilst its off for repair is like watching a portable. I have spoken to LG, and although many people seem to be experiencing this fault, the operative I spoke to says they are not aware of any problems with the set! Overall I am very disappointed with the plasma, and wish now that I hadn't purchased it. Rating:
Reviewed by john cummings on 12/12/2010 I have had a 60PS8000 for about 18months and had the dreaded black half of screen problem twice. First time the engineer fixed and promised it would never happen again but recently we had same problem. The engineer who came second time immediately knew what the problem was and corrected it on site within 20 minutes, I am amazed that with this being such a common problem the other engineers didn't know. it is caused by loose connectors and there are clips available to secure them, price for clips is about 6 pounds and easy to fit. Feel free to email me for details. Rating:
Reviewed by Scott on 26/09/2010 Well had the tv 60" paid £1400 for 3 months, still waiting 1 month later for LG to attemp the second fix, the lower half of the screen has gone, the upper part is back to front and in reverse with multiple lines, I have asked repeatly for a refund, I have asked for a replacement and getting nowhere, the service is rubbish, not what I would expect from LG, and don't get me wrong here, I'm normally a fan of LG, I have an LG Mobile and Fridge, but this telly, at this price, in such a short time, with this poor service, I wish I had never bought it sorry. Reviewed by PG on 30/09/2009 After only 6 weeks, the bottom half of my screen went black. Dixons/Curry's can't fix it and will offer me vouchers or a replacement TV. Don't know what to do? Rating:
Reviewed by Swanny on 23/09/2009 Useless tv had to send mine back to currys as lines appeared half way down set to the bottom of the set. Currys couldnt fix the problem and sent me vouchers that i had intended on spending on the same set, but when i got to the store their display model was doing the exact same things as mine did so opted to buy a 46inch samsung led instead. Gonna miss the size but hopefully the quality will shine through and make me forget iv just lost 14 inches :( Rating:
