I've had this for just a week and after struggling with the awful software that Sony forces you to use in order to transfer anything - I have to say it is the best gadget I have ever had. The headphones alone make it a great buy - I'm really fussy about sound quality and the channel separation is second to none. The bass is rich without being boomy and the treble is crisp and clear - the sound overall is completely natural, it's like having a concert played inside your head, really amazing. I found the unit needed to be 'run in' because a week later it unbelievably sounds even better than it did at first. There is a tiny hiss which is more apparent when the noise cancelling feature is activated, but you only notice it before the audio starts playing and it certainly doesn't detract from the quality or enjoyment of the player. I've put 50 hours on it in WMA vbr but you could get more storage if you used Sony's Atrac format, but for me 50 hours is more than enough for the time being. I am listening to Tubular Bells 1st album right now as I type and it's mindblowing. I also bought the audio cradle and speakers which is also mindblowing because you can just plop the player in it and the music just fills the room. Sony know something about sound - I've had other headphones before but I've never come across any that sound as good as these - to think they ship with them is incredible. Well done Sony - and to any readers, go try it - you won't be disappointed.
