Reviewed by Adrian on 17/01/2009 A superb product that is simple to use and delivers great sound through many different headphones. The originals won't fit standard jack plugs but any standard replacement headsets work with this product. The only drawback is the use of the sony software to transfer songs otherwise this would be a 5 star product. I'm listening to mine now on a set of phillips she8500 headphones which I prefer to the originals for some types of music. In a moment I shall listen to the football match live on my walkman - I can't get it through my tuner with a external aerial but the walkman receives the signal (if I sit in the right part of the room of the house!) Reception is very good, not like many built in FM tuners I have come across on other mp3 players and mobile phones. Sony have dispensed with the proprietary software on later mp3 players - this would give the product 5/5 from me. Sony recently repaired an mp4 player which my daughter was wearing when she jumped in a fountain - no charge despite the rusty screws which were obvious signs of water damage, and despite the fact that I sent the player back on the very last day of the guarantee. As you can tell, Sony have impressed me and I think they seem to be trying to give genuine customer service, although they need their bottoms spanking for very high out of guarantee repair costs! In these days of environmental awareness we should not be encouraged to buy a new product for the sake of a 10 pence circuit board. If you don't need a big screen to display photos or to play movies, and you just want a simple mp3 player I don't think you can beat this quality, robust player. Rating:
Reviewed by ruth on 20/10/2008 I am on to my 3rd player. I had an accident with the original one when the connection was violently pulled from the mp3 from then on I was unable to hear the music or radio satisfactory. As I had been really happy with it, particularly the radio, and I had been rough with it a second one was purchased for me, after a few months, with no accidents this one developed a similar problem. Another mp3 was purchased at the same time as my second one this is also not working. ?? there appears to be a connection weakness with this model which can be fixed but its hardly worth spending the money on this when a new one costs just a little more. My 3rd one is still working but for how long? disappointing as it is simple & easy to use Rating:
