Dyne Tuny II 256MB

Product Rating

Dyne Tuny II 256MB The first thing that stikes you when youve got this player in your hands is; (a) how super small it is and (b) how solid and sleek to touch it is. The TUNY II is made from plastic, but its very well constructed with chrome flashes on either end. Features are impressive including multi-codec (MP3 & WMA) support, an FM tuner, voice recorder and also direct encoding abilities (allowing you to create MP3 files without the need of a PC). The sleek lines are complemented by powerful sound quality, a high res screen with icon driven menu system and even a custom screensaver editor. The included manager software (required to transfer files to and from the player) is very easy to use due to its similarity to Windows Explorer. We also have to point out the blistering USB transfer speed, allowing you to concentrate on the main purpose of listening to music.

Software worked fine straight from the box, but recently I had to clean my Sony PC using the rectification disc. Having tried to install the software again, whatever I try, the Media Manager says 'not connected'. I have tried to contact the people that I bought it off (via EBAY) to no avail. I have tried www.dynetel.com - on the packaging, doesn,t seem to exist. Where can I get help with this problem. Fom a unit that I bought just over 12 months ago now, I have only had about 8 troublefree months. Not very good for #150. ken.martin.mg@blueyonder.co.uk

Excellent value. Very impressed with sound, it's very light & good-looking, & appears great value for money when compared with those similarly priced from the high street. The "instructions" disc provided contains a basic media player, but I found my own Windows media player easiest to use to transfer CDs onto it. Only (minor) criticism is that some printed step-by-step (idiots guide) basic instructions would have been nice for an mp3 novice like myself.

This product is superb, not had any problems with it whatsoever. The sound is excellent and functions easy to use. One thing to note you do not get decent headphones with any mp3 player. I bought a set of sony earphones with the bass buds and it is a fantastic sound, i would recomend it to anyone. AAA+++

The player its self looks good is easy to operate after a few minutes messing about with it, the down side is the instructions are lacking in every way, It doesn't even tell you how to download music how to put it into files etc, I have not used a MP3 player before and the music player that came on the supplied disc was c!*p. I spent ages trying to figure out how to down load the music and eventually used windows media player. Having said that now that its up and running it plays clear and the battery lasts a good 9 to 10 hours. Final word with a little thought by Dyne they would have a very good product but its mostly let down by poor instructions and a lack of a decent mode of downloading music......

Please be carefull before buying this. The player has BIG potential, but as of right now the firmware is lacking. I'm running the latest update (2.04) and non of my VBR-mp3 files work correctly. That is they play alright, but I cannot adjust the volume. Constant bitrate MP3 works fine. Sometimes the VBR's don't play at all. FIRMWARE: http://www.dynetel.com/download/custom_download.asp FM-radio has bad reception, but the one station I can get a signal from sounds fine. The voice recorder is very good. Sound quality is good, and the sound is loud, although the amplifier is on 5mW as oposed to iRiver's 12mW It's is very easy to transfer files, and you don't need any drivers or special software: I't works like any USB-pen-drive. Easy to navigate as folders are supported. Multiple files can be transferred at once, and the speed is OK (500kb/sec). Built quality is VERY good, and the arm band (sold seperately as oposed to iRiver) works fine. So, if the Firmware is going to be updated sufficiently, this will be a killer product, but until then I would deffinately go for the iRiver iFP-390T instead even though it will be a bit larger and heavier with its AA-battery (the Tuny has an AAA). I must say that I have not tried the iRiver, but have read a lot of reviews, and it seems iRiver has the market leading update-service and the player itself gets rave reviews.
