Sony KDL-40V2000 ReviewRating: Date: 05-02-2007 There aren't that many companies offering 40 inch LCD TV's, but even if there were, the Sony KDL-40V2000 would no doubt still be an excellent choice. The specification of this TV is basically the same as its 32 inch little brother, the KDL-32V2000, so read our detailed review of the Sony KDL-32V2000 for more information.
Whilst we aren't going to repeat everything that we said in that review here, we'll point out that by the time you start shelling out the kind of money that you need to buy a 40-inch TV, you start to demand a bit more for your money, and the Sony KDL-40V2000 isn't the best 40-inch TV available. Instead this prize goes to the Sony KDL-40W2000 and Sony KDL-40X2000 which use Sony's new Bravia Engine EX to deliver even higher quality pictures. Still, the V2000 delivers a superb quality picture, and with excellent sound it's recommended. However, the fact that there's only one HDMI connection is definitely a disadvantage.
Features of the Sony KDL-40V2000 include:
- 40" V-series BRAVIA LCD TV
- HD Ready
- Integrated Digital TV Tuner
- High Performance S-PVA LCD panel
- WCG-CCFL backlight and Colour Filter Side
- Fast Response Time 8ms
- BRAVIA ENGINE
- Wide Viewing Angle 178 degrees
- High Contrast 1300:1
- SRS TruSurround XT for enhanced surrounding effect
- PIP Freeze to Pause Important Scenes on the Spot
- Swivel to Adjust Display to the Best Viewing Position

Reviewed by Paul on 24/02/2007 I'd been researching LCD televisions on the net for a while, and had already decided on a Sony. To narrow my choice further I went along to the local Sony Centre to check them out in the flesh, so to speak. Wow! What an eye opener. Believe me, whichever Sony you choose you will be really pleased by the quality. After staring at screens for ages I couldn't actually tell the difference between this one and the much more expensive X series that uses the BRAVIA EX engine, whatever that is. This was watching Sky HD. I couldn't justify spening more when I couldn't even see a difference in image quality, so I bought the KDL-40V2000 and am luving it! Rating:
