If you're in the market for a 32 inch LCD TV, the Sony KDL-32V2000 is an excellent choice, but it's definitely not in the bargain basement category. Like most Sonys, it delivers the goods, but at a price!
The picture quality of the 32V2000 is unbeatable. Looking at the specifications we can tell that this screen is going to deliver: - HD Ready - of course!
- Screen resolution of 1366x768 - standard for this size of TV
- A very high contrast ration of 1700:1 (dynamic contrast ration of 7000:1) - this is higher than any other TV in this class, and ensures that blacks stay black and that whites & colours are bright
- Response time of 8ms - to help eliminate ghosting effects during action scenes
- Viewing angle: 178º
- Light sensor - to automatically adjust screen brightness depending on ambient lighting conditions
- Digital comb filter - this technology "cleans" noisy images
- Sony's Bravia (Best Resolution Audio Visual Integrated Architecture) Engine - this a picture tuning and noise reduction process that renders images with pinsharp accuracy
- Wide Color Gamut CCFL (Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp) backlight - a unique BRAVIA technology that generates significantly improved colour rendition
The upshot of all these features is a stunning picture quality that is virtually unmatched in this size of TV. It's probably true to say that this is the best 32 inch TV currently available. Whether you're watching HD TV, DVD's, Freeview or using a games console, you will not be disappointed with the picture.
The Sony also delivers in the audio department. The total power output is 20W through 2 speakers located at the bottom of the screen. SRS TruSurround XT and BBE High Definition Sound provide for added depth and realism.
The KDL-32V2000 comes with an integrated digital terrestrial tuner (Freeview) with channel labelling for easy installation. An EPG (Electronic Programme Guide) displays upcoming programmes on screen so that you can browse and select programmes with ease. Other useful features include a sleep timer, parental lock, digital teletext with 700 page memory and PIP (Picture In Picture) Freeze which lets you freeze a scene whilst viewing continues.
There are many connection ports including a HDMI connector, 2x SCART (RGB, Smartlink), Component, S-Video, PC input, a PCMCIA Card Slot, AV Input, and a 3.5mm minijack for headphones. A table top stand is supplied with the TV and a wall mounting bracket is optional.
The Sony KDL-32V2000 is an excellent TV, but the high cost and lack of a second HDMI connection prevents us from awarding a full 5 stars.
