Reviewed by Paul Cain on 22/10/2010 Would be interested in how tuning problems were solved as I have also experienced same problems with digial tuning. The matter each day is only resolved by turning off the electricity to the mains. Look forward to any advice ones may have Rating:

Reviewed by Andrew Dickeson on 15/03/2006 This product is absolutely brilliant when it is working! However I have
had numerous problems with the digital tuner. The set has been returned to Philips once, and the aerial has been upgraded, but the problems remain. Problems include: 1) occasional loss of picture for about 20sec when changing channels. 2) plain blue screen when switching on in digital
mode - can only be recovered by switching off at the mains. 3) Lock-up
when trying to view digital text. 4) wrong map sometimes loaded when on BBC weather page (changing to another BBC channel sometimes corrects it).
I have now been told that there is a firmware download to be broadcast
shortly that may resolve these problems - let's hope so. Rating:
Reviewed by Neil Winter on 07/03/2006 Great TV, both sound and picture quality are excellent BUT the digital tuner permanently crashes (I mean at least once per day) Experienced this fault also on a replacement set so I now believe this is an inherent fault! I would recommend the equivelent Philips TV WITHOUT the digital tuner ! Rating:
Reviewed by Andy Warner on 28/10/2005 Philips 26PF5520D lcd 26" tv - Overall very pleased... until today when I got a problem fault with digital E4. This is my first LCD tv, and I was not expecting quite such vibrant and lively pictures. I don't use the dvi, the PC input, so no comments. I did connect a cheap dvd drive, but I got a poor picture via the scart socket. I changed leads etc, no improvement. I changed to the 2nd scart, and got a near perfect picture. Sound is very good, quality of picture is high on most channels, but some jpegging on the 'lower quality' channels - don't watch from closer than 1.5 metres!! Its better image than i get on my jvc CRT with a sony digibox for the good channels, but not as good when images are heavily compressed. DIGITAL PROBLEMS: The set looses sound for a second or two every now and then (not too often). First I thought it was a poor digital signal from my arial. However, my Sony digibox doesnt suffer, from the same feed, plus I have a signal booster too. I have seen other similar problems reported for Philips digiboxes, though not this model. Watching E4 for the first time today, (channel 14) causes the set to loose picture, then to loose sound then to re-set to the last channel watched before E4. This then causes the set to loose vision on other stations until it has been turned off and on again. re-tuning does NOT solve the issue. I have seen other similar problems reported for Philips digiboxes, though not this model. These issues might be a fault on this unit, but I suspect its a problem inherant in the digital tuner. Until today, 5***** but now 2** from me. I am writing to Philips about this issue. Rating:
