With 50Hz video signal input, Motion Picture Pro 2 creates 100 frames/1 sec from 50 frames/1 sec. This increases the frame count to allow natural frame-to-frame transitions, which results in smooth motion images with high resolution. With Motion Picture Pro 2, the VIERA LCD also detects areas with motion and activates backlight blinking for those areas only, greatly enhancing resolution. Smooth reproduction of movie images a cinematic effect is achieved to preserve the quality of images that are recorded onto movie film at 24 frames per second.

The term "x.v.Colour" was proposed as a designation for products compatible with xvYCC, which is an international standard that allows enhanced colour reproduction with a wider colour gamut than before. Provided careful calibration is done, this TV is excellent in almost all departments. Colour, sharpness, overall blacks, all fine. I find the Freeview picture is best via the Virgin Plus cable box set at 1080i, which gives outstanding results in SD and HD. make sure you use best quality HD cables! Results from my Pro SonyHD camcorder are like looking out of a window. However, this model is no longer produced: the market changes so rapidly.

This is a stunning TV. Setting it up is dead simple. It has a great 14-day program guide and links to other Panny devices for simple recording and playback. Its integrated sound is good; optical digital sound output to a home cinema system is top notch. It uses minimal power in standby and its 'ECO' display mode produces a more than satisfactory picture. When viewing HD from satellite or BluRay, it is astonishing.
