Panasonic TX-32LXD60
Product Rating
Panasonic TX-32LXD60 ReviewRating: Date: 15-11-2006 The Panasonic TX-32LXD60 is a smart 32 inch HD Ready LCD TV in silver, with a swivel angle of 20 degrees. It's a fairly average performer, ticking all the right boxes but not excelling in any particular way. The price of the product reflects this.
It has a typical display resolution of 1,366 x 768 pixels and a screen aspect of 16:9 Wide. It has a high contrast ratio of 1200:1 and an 8 millisecond motion picture response, which helps prevent 'ghosting' effects. The TX-32LXD60 comes with Panasonic's 3D Colour Management and V-Real Advanced LCD AI featuring Active Light Control and Active Contrast Systems, changing the brightness, contrast and colours to suit the scene you're watching. Picture quality is probably average for this size of LCD TV. You can view in different screen sizes including Dynamic, Normal, Cinema, Auto and Multi Window, also 16:9, 14:9, 4:3, Zoom1, Zoom2 and Zoom3.
This TV has a DVB (Digital Video Broadcast) Digital Tuner which receives digital signals without a set-top box and a PLL synthesizer 100-position auto-search tuner for easy installation. It also comes with integrated Freeview.
It has 2 speakers at 10 Watts running through Broadcast Stereo NICAM (FM).
Probably the weakest feature of this particular TV is its lack of connectivity options. There's just one HDMI connection for HD Ready sources. This is pretty limiting, and most TV's in the 30 inch plus range now offer at least two HDMI connections. In addition, there's a component video, an S-video and a single SCART input. When you consider the kinds of devices that you may want to connect to a TV these days (HD TV input, DVD player/recorder, video, PC and games console) you can see that you will rapidly run out of high quality connection ports, and may end up being forced to use a low quality SCART lead when a high definition HDMI lead would have been preferred. And why spend this kind of money on a high definition TV if you end up having to plug in low quality inputs? Some readers may think that connectivity is an issue that mostly concerns technology geeks, but our advice is to think very carefully before buying a TV with such limited connectivity. If you want to make your investment future-proof, you'd do well to choose a TV with at least two HDMI ports.
Overall this is an average performing TV, and we have concerns about the lack of connections. You might also consider the Philips 32PF7531D or the Samsung LE32R74BD as alternatives.
