Reviewed by Dave C on 08/06/2010 Further to my review on 09/04/2010, I have found that the problem of dark areas disappearing is due to the TV not coping with Macrovision copy-proofing. Not the digital 'do not copy this disc' instruction that stops DVD recorders copying it, but the VCR-defeating black and white changes off the top of the picture that mess up the VCR's automatic level control, but TV's are (usually) capable of dealing with. It can be overcome by using a Macrovision remover, the difference between Macrovision present and absent is quite drastic, but it shouldn't be necessary to do this. A friend's Sharp LCDTV shows no such effect. Rating:
Reviewed by Gabby on 14/05/2010 excellent on the picture front, as all LG screens are, but the sound is terrible. when the speakers vibrate, so does the whole TV. it is alright to hide the speakers, but not to the point where they do not work properly. it went back to the suppliers, and came back with a service sheet, saying common fault, manufacturing fault. an excellent TV spoilt by the speakers!!! Reviewed by Dave C on 09/04/2010 Compared to my old CRT TV, this has a smeary picture, unusable sound, poor response to the remote and some dvds are unwatchable due to dark areas disappearing completely (contrast ratio 50,000:1? don't make me laugh!); no amount of tweaking the settings will rescue it. Deeply regret buying, have reverted to my old CRT box. Rating:
Reviewed by Andy R on 25/12/2008 I have had this tv for a couple of months now. The picture quality is excellent when used with my ps3 and decent when watching normal freeview.I am pleased with the purchase but there are a couple of things that I don't like. One is the OSG. I find the layout makes it quite difficult to see what programs are on at a quick glance. Another is the delay from pressing the button on the remote to it actually doing any action on the tv itself which often ends up with me turning over to say channel 33 instead of 3 etc. Apart from the above little gripes I am pleased with my purchase.
