LG 26LC2R ReviewRating: Date: 09-11-2006 The LG 26LC2R is a smart looking 26 inch HD Ready LCD TV and is one of the best all-round TV's in its class.
The picture quality of the 26LC2R is very good. It has a high resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels along with a very high contrast ratio of 1,200:1, fast reponse time of 8ms to help reduce "ghosting" effects and a bright clear image. The TV uses 3D digital comb technology to help "clean" up low quality input. The result is a high quality image even when watching analogue TV or VHS video. When watching high definition input, e.g. from SkyHD, the picture quality is superb, although not in the same league as the Sony KDL-26S2010 for example. This TV also benefits from Picture in Picture (PIP) and Split Screen which enables you to watch 2 channels at the same time.
Sound quality is also very good, with powerful stereo speakers (2 x 10W) mounted in a bar below the screen and Surround Max for added depth and realism.
It also has a built-in Freeview digital tuner, with auto set-up. This will help to make the TV future-proof when analogue TV is switched off in the next few years. However, to maximise the potential of this set, you'll want to plug in a HD source such as SkyHD. The TV includes the all important HDMI connection port along with 2x SCART (1full), Component (Y,Pb,Pr), S-video and a PC Input. This combination gives plenty of options for connecting up all kinds of input devices. A second HDMI connection would have been the icing on the cake, but the choice of inputs still makes this TV pretty well future-proof. The LG 26LC2R is one of the most fully-featured LCD televisions in its class, and is priced very competitively too.

Reviewed by russzero on 12/01/2007 Bought the lcd tv to improve the space in our room. the 1st impression we got was the picture was very bright. this LG model has a tremendous menu. theres loads of settings to adjust so it wasnt a straight forward job .. so take your time. every AV INPUT has its own settings .. (very handy !!) its got USER pre-sets so u can store your settings. the settings looked fine in a darkened room but i had to tweak them in daylight. i found the daylight settings seemed to work best. this type of screen is quite different from the usual TUBE tv. the black levels are very different. as we become used to computer monitors im sure we will become used to the new generation of tvs. The angle at which u view the screen is much better than some early models weve seen. the only thing is if u sit too far off screen the pic may look a little foggy. we did notice a strange FX .. & that was movement of still images within the picture.??? sometimes it appears worse .. but only sometimes. very strange to watch a house makeover program to see the frame around the door moving away from the wall while people were disgusing the color scheme!!! ooo er ?? sort of 3D. thought i was halucinating !! The audio is very natural for such small speakers & although not earth shattering .. the seperation is minimal unless sitting close but a pleasant sound. The purchase was a just our preference. there are lots to choose from. in the shop they all looked very simular. we were talked out of buying the 32ins model unless u have a big room .. & in a way im glad we were. its all to easy with these smaller cased tvs to go buying bigger screens .. in fact it replaced our old 28in widescreen ( with 26in screen & HUGE case) & looks the part. in the all black finish it looks a lot smaller & yet a big screen .. a strange but nice touch. VERDICT : Very pleased with the tv. nice sound .. a good picture but dont overdo the sharpness of the picture or it may start to look a bit un-natural. sitting too close is not a good thing or sitting off centre. very compact for the screen size .. could easily be moved round the house. teletext once loaded is very fast. loads of inputs on the back & HD ready. yet to see it work in HD MODE so that should be interesting.
