Reviewed by Bernard on 17-02-2005 I bought the version that comes with the 2.1 speaker package and subwoofer. After having a Sony high end mini stereo system for some years I decided to buy this Denon system thinking that as it was the latest technology etc that it would sound better than the Sony. It definitely seems to sound more clearer when playing CD's and has a louder base as well. Still though my Sony sounds better as music sounds fuller. So all and all the sound is good. Playing DVD's is where you really notice improved sound which is nice. The thing that makes me wish I never bought this stereo system is that I have only had it for 8 months and I have already had to send it back for warranty repair because the CD player went all haywire. I sent it in and asked to get some of the screen display lights fixed as well for some of the displays are fading aready. When I got it back none of these issues were fixed and today the CD player has started to go haywire again. I would not recommend anyone buying the M71 unless they want to have to send it in for repair often. This is the first time I have bought a Denon product and after this experience I will never again.
