While good in many respects, this device fails at the one thing it's marketed as - a DVD recorder. This is because it's unable to record in RGB from an external source such as a Sky or cable box. While the integraded Freeview is useful, the lack of a hard disk means that such a device would normally be paired to an external PVR (such as Sky+ or V+) - which this can't without losing a lot of recording quality. Most other brands do not suffer from this failing, including my 5 year old Sony this was supposed to replace.
