I have to admit to being a little disappointed with this player. The recording quality is fantastic. The playback of comercial dvd's is poor. The quality being rather grainy and lacking good colour balance.

Always a big Sony fan, when it came to choosing a DVD recorder, I looked to Sony and wasn't disappointed. Key features of the RDRGX7 are the range of formats supported, the features available, and of course the top quality image and audio recording and playback. I can say that the playback of pre-recorded DVDs is mindblowing, and the quality of DVDs recorded by the unit is fantastic too! My only gripe is the complexity of the user interface. To be fair, a DVD recorder is never going to be idiot-proof. In fact, its probably one of the most advanced kinds of consumer electronic kit on the market. Sony do try to make the process easy, for instance if you insert a blank DVD, the unit will automatically format it for you. Still, if you're a dummy, stay away from this piece of kit :)
