Reviewed by Tom on 06/04/2012 utter rip off , manual was translated from japanese & pretty much everything was lost in translation , freesez up often , recording can randomly stop at times for no reason whatsoever , subtitles turn on randomly when they feel like it , you cant watch a channel while recording another , you need to turn the system off after setting a timed recording otherwise it wont do it , it has ghosting with anything that has small details in the background ( like trees or a battle scene Etc ) , it takes AGES to turn on/off & initialise a disc for recording ( like 5+ mins ) , it has built in freeview BUT if you record from that built in freeview you have NO choice on the record quality .... so if you want long play to fit a long film on a disc its just hard luck , it picks the record quality automatically depending on the signal quality ( or something along those lines ) , the DTV program guide is the slowest & most useless you'll ever use , it takes like 3 mins for the DTV program guide to load up , & then each scroll down on it takes about 7-10 secs , if you record to the HD it doesn't name the recorded program it just lists date & channel so you have to literally go through all ur recorded HD stuff 1 by one to find what you're looking for . P.S mine has just stopped initialising discs so i cant record or get my HD stuff off , was a month left on warranty so took it back to CURRYS who were extremely unhelpful & refused refund or exchange instead insisting it go for repair to samsung, so as a side note AVOID CURRYS / PC WORLD / DIXONS / COMET / ARGOS , as after research they all have similar terrible customer service , but especially CURRYS, i was told it would be picked up for repair today or tomorrow only to ring 7 days later to find out it hadnt even been logged to be picked up yet , its now 16 days & not 1 word from CURRYS . AVOID this DVD recorder like the plague ..... same goes for CURRYS .... just stick with big supermarkets and places like COST-CO ( Who refund faulty goods on the spot no hassle , unlike CURRYS who give you 21 days & then its repairs only Etc ) . DVD score ... minus 5 . Rating:
