I agree with all previous postings, this product is utter rubbish and should never have made it Market. Product development at the customers expense I thnk. Slow, slow, slow with broken playback when viewing from the HDD via HDMI. Samsung can and have produced much better. I have a 40 '' Samsung LCD TV which is top drawer and also a 20'' screen in the bedroom. I made the mistake of thinking that their DVDRs would be as good. Customer support will blame poor reception, don't believe a word of it, I live within a mile of a large transmitter with good line of sight!

I can'y believe what I'm reading - I thought all this time it was me or the reception. I now know its not - its the product. It is a nightmare - slow - poor quality need I say more. I will never buy anything from samsung again - in fact this is the only samsung product I have brought to date and its the last.

I hav'nt a good word to say about it either.Tuning is a nightmare. allow 20 mins setup time and do a trial record before your programme otherwise you will miss it. I will never buy anything samsung again. Ive has a digital camera and a mobile and they were rubbish too. they should have stuck to what they did best make tv tubes. they might have been out of business by now.

Thank goodness it isn't just me! We have more than one digital tv and the picture from the one that isn't connected to this pile of junk is perfect without any break-ups or pixellation. When we manage to record anything on the Samsung we are treated to stacks of pixellation, picture freezing with the dialogue cheerily continuing for a few minutes before a final collapse and an unwavering frozen picture to throw my slippers at! Of course, it is out of warranty now isn't it! Rating is not low enough at 1 star.

I am another poor devil, who is the sad owner of a Samsung DVD-SH875M. As the only person who can operate it,it's slowly driving me mad, s l o w being the operative word.I wanted a Sony, but the wife got her way, hopefully it will explode soon, after 1 year of very little use.

I agree with the reviews but not worth rating. 'Expensive pile of junk.' Slow menus, slow boot up time, screws up DVD-RW discs, picture has subtle vertical artefacts, picture often freezes and only a power off and reboot will cure it. I'll not consider the Samsung brand again for any product.

We bought this to complement the excellent Samsung LCDTV. How, disappointing. It freezes, breaks up despite being in an excellent signal location, loses lipsynch, fails to record to hard-drive. Suffers from all of the failings described in the other reviews. It has been "repaired" by having updated divers but after a month is no better. The only part which works consistently is the DVD playback. No stars.

Very dissapointing, not what I expected from Samsung. Very slow to load, noisy playback of DVD. Had an intermittent failure, and it has just died a couple of weeks out of warranty. Do not buy this expensive piece of junk!

Nothing but trouble! 9 weeks old and back for repair, of course, Comet are unhelpful, it fails to record, is slow and makes my digital t.v. and me ill! Really is the biggest money wasting piece of junk I have ever purchased. Will it be 'unrepairable' as by Comet? I do hope so.

I have recently bought this DVD machine and found similar problems and will be returning it to Comet (who have been very good). My SH871M is very slow to change any function and especially annoying and unacceptable is that more times than not the programme set up via the internal TV guide starts recording late by 10 mins or more. Also often it refuses to record. For fisrt ten days I thought it was me. No seeing other helpful reviews enough is enough and I shall be buying a Panasonic for an extra £26.00p. 1 star rating is not low enough.

Set it up and it didn't work. Channel changer changed the DTV to analogue...then the picture froze...then the sound disappeared...then the HDMI source gave no signal. Comet's technical dept tried to help and talked me through retuning and getting it working. Cheers Comet for that, you were very patient. Turned it off and when it was switched on again, the old faults and more came back. I gave it "1" rating simply because there was no zero or negative rating I could give it. I wonder how good they really are if they work properly>
