Purchased machine in December 2008 to go with Philips TV. A couple of months back it started to freeze whilst playing recordings or dvds.Sent back to philips, after a couple of weeks they returned it without a mention of what was wrong or what they had done.On using the machine I found that it still had the same problem. Sent back to Philips for second time. After a couple of weeks I contacted Philips only to be told that they could not repair the machine and that they had stopped making it. Got my money back.

Bought this machine recently. Has software v 3.07 installed. Some annoying features ... Advertising on the Guideplus EPG which takes up half the screen - anyone know how to defeat this? Cannot manually tune the digital tuner, resulting in some (excl subscription) channels not being loaded. Also cannot see a way of deleting rubbish like the shopping channels from the EPG list. On HDD or Disc payback, cannot precisely control forward/reverse playback - moves in blocks, not frame by frame. Would like to see 'time remaining' in the display on playback. Takes 20 seconds to start up from eco-standby.

I can not find the resume function ? When I start playing a video on a CD or DVD , then go to have a look what is currently on the TV channel , I can not go back to the video position where I left watching from. Does this mean the unit has no Resume ? Also when I am viewing say half way watching a video ,if I then click on "disc" ,the unit looses the previous video position from where I left from. Also why do some avi on disc have Macrovision , when my old Sharp DVD recorder also had Macrovision ,but did not distort videos on disc just because they where originally transferred from VHS to dvd ?

1. Software "unstable". Mostly fixed by latest update but still poor. 2. Must be manually switched off at night to get programme guide updates. 3. Very slow to function sometimes causing you to press the remote a second time thinking it didn't pick up the first signal with annoying consequences. 4. Hard drive a little too noisey. 5. No RF modualator so you cannot watch through the aerial cable, only HDMI or AV (SCART). On the plus side the HDMI picture is okay. Still someway behind HUMAX.

Really pleased with this - excellent picture quality for DVD, Freeview and DivX files - even makes lower quality DivX look good; but the best bit is it'll play the directly from a USB device.
