Lite On LVW-5045
Product Rating
Having already taken the confusion out of DVD recording with their earlier multi-format DVD recorders that incorporated "AllWrite" technology which allows for writing to multiple media formats (DVD+R/+RW, DVD-R/-RW and CDR/RW), LiteOn have taken the DVD recorder to the next level with the introduction of their flagship model the LVW-5045. This superior DVD recorder incorporates the same "AllWrite" technology, an enhanced Guider navigation system cunningly titled Easy Guider 2 and a whopping great 160GB hard drive that enables the user to store up to 198 hours of video footage (in SLP mode).
Features of the Lite On LVW-5045 include:
- Record up to 198 hours on the 160GB hard drive

- Time Shift functionality--pause live TV
- High-speed disc back-up function
- Easy transfer from HDD to DVD

Reviewed by Frustrated of Tunbridge Wells on 13/12/2008 Started off well - after about 2 years will now not record onto DVD-Rs, tried many brands. It's as good as useless now. Rating:
Reviewed by Tidyman on 14/07/2006 Had this unit for some 8 months and has been a constant source of trouble - locking up constantly, occassionally recording with no sound or sound drops out in middle of recording and, having finally decided to contact the manufacturer to return for warranty repair, their service contact was totally hopeless. Organised to collect on the Tuesday - no one turned up. Contacted them to be told it had changed to wednesday (thanks for that guys) - no one turned up. Finally re contacted supplier (Dixons) who were more than helpful and agreed to exchange the unit for me. Got a Panasonic DMR-EX75EB-S and it totally rocks. Well done Dixons/Currys. Avoid this unit at all costs even though it is cheap (I wonder why) and easy to use. Rating:
Reviewed by el gordo on 05/01/2006 An excellent machine at a very good price. Easy to set up and use. Not 100% on the timed recording but quality of recording superb. Maybe worth
waiting for a freeview tuner instead of the analogue one. Rating:
Reviewed by Auser on 01/01/2006 Don't even bother. Locks up frequently and can't be relied upon to
perform timer recordings. Useless tuner as well! Rating:

Reviewed by j .moran on 20-04-2005 I purchased this machine back in Jan. 2005 no problems so far it is an excellent machine and does everything as advertised the recording and play back quality is top class. The machine is very simple to set up and operate wih easy to follow menus. The allwrite technology handles anything you throw at it and the icing on the cake of course is the massive 160gb h.d its a steal at the price. Rating:
