Reviewed by trace on 07/03/2007 Sounds like my machine has the same problem as fatboy's - a strobe effect kind of image is produced during certain programs and films. It seems worst when the colours on screen are dark and there are no sharp contrasts. I don't have sky+ and the problem is with any / all channels. I upgraded my scart leads, just in case that was the source of the trouble, but no difference ('cept to my bank account). I took my first DD-A101X back to the shop and changed it, but the replacement does exactly the same thing. I don't use a PC so upgrades over the web are impossible for me to do, therefore haven't researched this avenue (but then why should I have to have a PC in order to use a dvd recorder with a tv?). It drives me mad, I hate the way it spoils the picture, so I'm going to return the replacement machine too and get something that's not Liteon. I've had a liteon 5001 in the past and, until it stopped working, it was a good machine. I expected this dvd recorder to be of the same quality, unfortunately, in my experience, it's not. Rating:
Reviewed by Fatboy on 15/02/2007 Just got 2 of these for me and my dad and everything on it seems nice. Love the divx player on it aswell. System control menus are easy to work through as my old man isnt exactly quick when it come to electronic software he has pick up using it surprisingly fast. 1 snag though and this seems to be generic to both recorders is me and my dad both have sky+ and when tuned into it the picture seems to be latent and slow almost like the sky communication to the recorder or vise versa is having problems keeping up? Dont know if this is the same for anyone else but that what i get. trying it on just normal tresterial channels seems to be fine. looked to find a firmware upgrade but very little info on Liteon's web page. I will call them and keep this post upto date with my findings but if im doing something wrong please dontr hesitate to reply if you are having the same problems. if so maybe looking at another recorder will suite you.
