Reviewed by DjG on 14/07/2010 The machine looks great at first glance but has a few drawbacks. No twin tuner so u can't record one thing while watching another! Besides this my machine appears to have eccentric behavior including changing channels of its own accord, changing resolution and refusing to open or close the disc tray manually! Going back to the shop with it but unfortunately there appears to be lots of other ppl in the same boat with little annoying problems. Rating:
Reviewed by Lewis on 09/03/2009 l have had this DVD recorder for about a week now, and love it. The unit can record a DVD from the hard drive in less then 5 mins but the selected file has to fit the blank media without any more compression (about 2 hours for a standard 4.7gb DVD R). The manual is easy to understand for the basics but could do with a little more detail for the advanced functions. The remote is very cheap but can control you TV, even if its not listed in the 5 brands in the manual, you have to try them all to see if they work. The picture is excellent in the standard play mode, and good in long play, l haven't tried any of the others. Before this unit l had a Wolfendale DVD recorder that was very noisy and unreliable. l would recommend this to anyone who asked my opinion. Rating:
Reviewed by Robin on 21/11/2008 I've had this machine 24hrs, so probably haven't spotted all the problems... But - already I am thinking of saying it has a fault and changing it for another brand... My initial impression is if you are thinking about buying one of these is to think again - I had a Wolfendale DVD hard disc recorder with a purchase price of £100 less and it had more functionality... The remote comes with one of those hateful control-your-TV buttons, which is great, if you have one of the five brands listed, but if not, is a total waste of space... Recording from HDD to DVD is in unbelivable 'real-time' (3hr hours takes a staggering 3hrs) unless the machine lets you select the "Fast" option... Yep - it works for one file at a time, but not for multiple files... No facility to set a title picture... DOES NOT RECORD RADIO!!!! Editing files is OKish but will take some getting use to... a Mickey Mouse manual lacking on detail... On the positve side, does have the facilty to do an emergency power-down if the machine hangs... Disappointing is too mild a word for this machine... Rating:
