Reviewed by Julian Cameron on 11/09/2008 I would agree with T Perkins although with one caution. When it works, it works very very well but it has an annoying habit of failing with DVD-RW discs. I get about a 50/50 chance of the recording failing either part way through or more annoyingly when it is finalizing. DVD-R gives no problems. The vhs is very basic but functional and of good quality. My machine was replaced under warranty and still the new machine exhibits the same problem so it would seem to be either a bad batch or a generic problem. Rating:
Reviewed by Thomas Perkins on 21/05/2008 Perfect at everything. Good old LG. I had a cheap standalone DVD Recorder (that was actually more expensive than this) and VCR and that couldn't get a patch on the quality this records. This makes perfect copies VHS to DVD everytime, sometimes I am sure the picture is improved! Even on longer speeds like the 4 hour setting it is still perfect! It also records perfect picture and sound from set top box connected to the scart - even on VHS! This is due to its pretty much unique RGB inputs and outputs on both scarts meaning it can record in RGB. It plays pretty much any format DVD and can record on -R/RW and +R/RW as well so you dont need to worry about formats. It plays VHS excellent and somehow seems to improve the picture of older poorer quality tapes so they look new again! Also, last but not least, it has amazing sound from DVD and VHS. I have it hooked up to my surround sound through the optical connection and it gets perfect Dolby Digital on DVD and, beleive it or not, also excellent almost DVD quality from a good quality VHS - Through the optical connection!!!!
