It was given to me from a fried who upgraded to a better DVD and so I am using it for the bedroom The scart socket was a bit wobly but this was easily fixed Good value for money; the box is small and ideal for the bedroom as a space saver, the style is pleasant to look at, so far always works and never lets down Just as good as more expensive leading brands as basic DVD for a second TV. Thanks

Tip; if you get the "No Valid Disk" error when using DVD R disks then it is probably due to the DVD R disk type. This player will not play DVD+R disks but does play DVD-R disks ;). I was unaware of this until I found this link - www.cdr-zone.com/forum/about6981.html Please also note the digital audio output is coax only but this is excellent.

The "no valid disc" fix i found with resetting the region code was short lived,so i looked into it further.found that this problem could be solved. However,it required opening the player,so only do this if you know what not to touch! just do an online search under this problem,it happens to other players too.The fix of moving the laser solved my problem and is really easy to do.hope this helps you. The matsui dvd225,i have owned 3. 1 lasted 13months,then no power showed on it. 2 lasted 15 months, then no valid disc, which i have hopefully solved 3 12 months and still okay. my view on the dvd225? a cheap multi region player, not built for longevity.however for the cost and the region free part it`s a fair deal.if you want something to last `though,i wouldn`t recommend this player.

A very nice and compact player, one of the main reasons I got it. The picture quality is great. Although there are two things I do not like about it. Firstly there's no timer/counter on the unit (like a VCR) and secondly it does not play VCDs. It being not able to play VCDs is the reason that I'm going to return it as I have a lot of VCDs in my collection. But if you only have DVDs and you are not bothered by it not having a counter/timer then this is a good product overall. Like I said, the best thing about it is the compactness.
