Reviewed by Phillip on 31/10/2005 Only had the V3 for a few days but I'm impressed by the build quality and how it looks. It was either this or the Canon G6, but I decided the G6 looked ugly in comparison and preferred black to silver/grey. I got fed up lugging my Pentax film SLR camera around but didn't want to lose the advanced features like manual control and priority options, so a digital 'point and shoot'was no good for me. The V3 falls just right as a 'bridge' between a P&S and dSLR (which are way too pricey for me and too big like my old Pentax). I know the V3 is an old model (it's now Nov.2005 and it was launched early in 2004) but because of that I got it at a discounted price. I intend to keep it for a long time, which is why I took time to think about getting it. Many pros scoff at Sony cameras because they don't have a history of making them, but todays cameras are 80% electronics and I reckon Sony has had plenty of experience in that arena. They also have an enviable reputation for quality -- and that's important to me -- no cheap imitations thankyou! Rating:
Reviewed by Susan on 23/01/2005 Excellent prosumer 7 megapixels digi camera. feels quite chunky to hold, but not too heavy. I find that it takes excellent pictures, in fact way better than my old film SLR. With 7 megapixels to play with I know that I can azoom in and blow things up pretty big on my pc. I like the fact that you can take movie clips with sound as well as stills and the length of the clips is limited only by the available memory. I'm using this feature more thjan I thought I would. The lens is quality and the big LCD panel makes it easy to review pics and delete the ones that didn't work out. I'm very pleased with this camera. Rating:
