Reviewed by JSM on 26/05/2006 I just got my Dimage Z10 digital camera recently on sale locally for $170. I wanted a digital camera that was going to be fairly easy to use and with a decent sized optical zoom and figure that the 8X optical (290mm) zoom should be enough zoom lens for my taste. The camera is easy for beginners to use. There seems to be many features on this camera that I may try to use as I use this camera more often. I have not had any problems yet with this camera. The rear monitor is a little small, but not a big deal since I can also use the viewfinder. It's just a little bulky for a digital camera, but not a big deal yet for me. I assume the bulk is because of the larger zoom lens. What few pictures I have taken with this digital camera has turned out almost as good as my good Minolta 35mm camera. Overall, I am pleased with this digital camera and like it alot. Rating:
Reviewed by EdC on 01/02/2006 I bought the camera in the middle of November from ebay to replace a low end Polaroid digital that had died. My previous with Minolta was a 35mm XE7, that my wife gave my in 1975. It was stolen from my truck. The Z10 was a reconditioned so the price was only about $125. To say I was pleasantly surprised at how good the pictures were, would be an understatement. The XE7 took a total of 4 bad pictures in the 30+ yrs I had it and they were operator error. I have a feeling that the Z10 is going to be just as good. About 2 weeks after I bought it, someone at work saw the camera and and wanted one for his wife. She was estatic at how easy it worked and at the quality of the pix. I decided to get one for my wife for Christmas when she started drooling over mine. She also was extrememly pleased. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate it a 12. It is a professional amateur type camera, but is also a point and shoot which is good for those spur of the moment photos. Rating:
Reviewed by Bert Laqua on 18/01/2005 Yes I am really enjoying this camera for the price it is an excellent digital I paid 379 canadian and really am happy. It is easy to use although a down side no sound. Well someone told me if you want to make movies buy a camcorder. well it still is fun. the 8 times zoom is plenty and no need for the anti-shake feature since a tri pod can be used. My main concern was price and features this camera is a very good compromise. Rating:
Reviewed by Nick Dobie on 10/01/2005 Very good quality pictures and easy to use and hold. The batteries last for ages due to its power saving mode, especially if you use 2000+ mAh rechargable batteries. Just three drawbacks which probably would have prevented me from purchasing this if I had known beforehand. It's ok having 12 x Zoom (8opt.+4dig.) but you do need a tripod for taking shots this far away otherwise the pics are shakey. Also there is no sound in movie mode. Pity. And it is a bit bulky for just carrying around all day. Rating:
