Kodak C663 Zoom
Product Rating
Kodak C663 Zoom ReviewRating: Date: 09/01/2007 The Kodak EasyShare C663 is a smart looking and relatively small digital camera although it is slightly chunky. It is a simple point and shoot camera making it easy to use. The camera comes in a smart silver finish. It has 6.1 megapixels which is above average and very reasonable for the price you are paying (approximatly £120). 6.1 MP means you can print large, high quality pictures up to 20 × 30 in. (50 × 75 cm). Having a high megapixel rating helps you to produce a high quality picture, and the higher the megapixel count, the clearer it will be, although this also means that a picture of a higher quality will take up more memory. This camera has an optical zoom of 3x which is typical when compared to other point and shoot cameras. The lens is 3X all glass created by SCHNEIDER KREUZNACH, it is equivalent to 34-102 mm on a 35 mm zoom lens. The digital zoom is very good with 5x zoom. When considering the zoom features of a digital camera, the optical zoom is more significant then the digital zoom as the optical zoom will maintain the resolution of the image as well as keeping the entire image. Using a digital zoom means that in order to zoom in, the camera crops some of the image and the quality is lost as the resolution is also affected. The video resolution is also good with 640 x 480 pixels and 24 frames per second, and features audio capture and playback. MPEG-4 compression enables less memory to be used so more video clips can be captured. It has a large colour size screen at 2.5 inches, which can be seen indoors or outdoors. The camera has a very good interface connection with USB 2.0 and video out. USB 2.0 gives 40 times faster transfer rates then USB 1.1 giving you a raw data rate of 480Mbps. Some additional features of this camera are the theme and colour modes. It has 17 different programmed scene modes including auto, sport, portrait, snow, fireworks, backlight and party. The five colour modes are high colour, low colour, natural colour, sepia, black & white. In conclusion, this is a very good camera as for the price you are paying you get a large screen and a great interface connection. The only downside is the optical zoom is fairly average although to get a higher optical zoom you will need to pay more.
The Kodak C663 Zoom digital camera could be described as a quality point and shoot model. 6.1 Megapixels is a very generous number, the 3x optical zoom lens is fairly standard and the 2.5" LCD screen is large. With 17 programmed scene modes and 5 colour modes this is a point and shoot for getting creative with.
