I'm probably unusual as a reviewer because i'm not a professional or even an interested amateur. I bought the canon a560 because my other camera had started to play silly beggars, and i thought it was time for a new one. the first and probably only thing that attracted me to this camera was the price, it was a refurbished jobby and cheap. you have to bear in mind that i don't normally use a still camera very much. But, and i used a capital letter then,the quality of the pictures at this price really did amaze me,in short they are very very good, in the hands of a pro i suspect they'd be even better, really the face recognition thingummybob is amazing, the rest of the camera performs as well, only gripe would be the sound which makes me sound like i sound like, albeit a bit tinny. i got this from amazon for 70 quid including postage, pay half as much again and you still have a bargain, no joking, this really is a bimmler of a camera. oh and that extra bit of magnification 4 v 3, makes all the difference. the optical zoom as ever with these things is a waste of time unless you have a tripod, i don't.

Bought this just because it was Canon and reviews i had seen looked at favoured it (choosing between a samsung s1050, Olympus FE210 and the Canon), so far i have been really impressed, pics are very high quality and sharp, its easy to use, really quick startup and very little shutter lag. Zooms good (4x) and its got a viewfinder. Average battery life (compared to other compacts). With the handgrip its a little bulkier than other cameras but it does make it easier to handle.
