Canon IXUS 800 IS
The Canon Digital IXUS 800 IS is a well specified compact digital camera in metallic silver and ebony black. It has 6 megapixels which is very good. The 4x optical zoom lens has a higher zoom ratio than the more usual 3x optical zoom. The lens incorporates optical Image Stabilizer technology to counteract camera shake which is a common problem when shooting with a slow shutter speed, using full zoom or in dim lighting. The digital zoom is 4x. Still images can be shot in widescreen 16:9 mode and played back on a widescreen TV or printed on wide paper. Movies are recorded at 30 frames per second in VGA mode and at 60 frames per second in QVGA mode. The camera has a large 2.5" TFT LCD screen with adjustable brightness. The Quick-bright function instantly brightens the screen outdoors and the Night Display mode makes it easier to see at night time.
The shooting modes available with this camera are - Auto, Manual, Digital Macro, Portrait, Night Snapshot, Stitch Assist and Movie. There are 9 Special Scene modes for you to choose from - Foliage, Snow, Beach, Fireworks, Underwater, Indoor, Kids & Pets, Color Accent and Color Swap. Pictures can be further enhanced by the range of My Colors photo effects available - Vivid, Neutral, Sepia, Black & White, Positive Film, Lighter Skin Tone, Darker Skin Tone, Vivid Blue, Vivid Green, Vivid Red and Custom Color.
The menu operates in 23 languages - English, German, French, Dutch, Danish, Finnish, Italian, Norwegian, Swedish, Spanish, Simplified Chinese, Chinese (traditional), Japanese, Russian, Portuguese, Korean, Greek, Polish, Czech, Hungarian, Turkish, Thai and Arabic.
The camera uses a USB 2.0 high speed connection and also has A/V output (PAL/NTSC). The camera comes supplied with a rechargeable li-ion battery and charger. The camera is PictBridge compatible meaning that it will print directly to any PictBridge or Canon Direct Print compatible printer without the need for a PC. You also get access to CANON iMAGE GATEWAY which gives you 100MB of web space for your own personal picture gallery, although this feature is not available in all regions.
