Reviewed by Phil on 05/02/2005 I upgraded to the Ixus 500 from an old digital Canon. The new Ixus 500 is even more beautiful than my old Ixus and the beauty goes more than skin deep. Inside the compact shell is a powerful 5 megapixel camera capable with lots of options for more advanced photographers. Even using the default auto settings it takes high quality images under almost all lighting situations, with good colour saturation. Whilst it doesn't have quite the range of options of Canon's high-end cameras, its plenty for most users and 5 megapixels is more than enough for taking normal photographs. A friend of mine also has the Ixus 430 and that's a great camera too. In fact, I thoroughly recommend any of the Ixus camera range. It's not just a fantastic compact camera, it's also a bargain at the price! Rating:
