Reviewed by Ben Lorenzo on 12/04/2007 The best sub fore its price (sound quality) I am using a pioneer x320 PRS too power it, and a 1 farad capicator for consstant juice. Have tried other subs, Magnat, Sony, Pioneer (in the jbl`s price range) but they never com close to the jbl "following the music" A best buy sub! Rating:
Reviewed by Joel Waller on 15-12-2003 Well well, there is a good story on this one because i had a JBL 12inch
GTO old style 225 RMS and 1800Watt(Well so it says on the box yeah right) I
bought one of these reccommened for good sound quality for a fair price
esspecially for £50, and the first one i had broke after a couple of
months, it sounded like i damaged the voice coil because it gave a
rattling sound when receiving an input signal.
So took it back got another one for FREE! The second one i had seemed fine
until it started sounding really awful and muffled and i checked the
impedance of the sub and it was 3 ohms and it is rated to be 4 ohms and this
made my amp also cut out in to safety mode quite often and i think that was
the reason, so i was going to get a replacement and they said they have to
give me a JBL GT412 instead of my old one i was a bit annoyed at first because
at first i thought they did not look as good as the old cone shape, how ever
they can handle another 25 watts of RMS and i notice the cone is very
similar to JL audio sub and my mate has got two of those and they sound really
loud and clear, i am running my new JBL GT412 with a splx amp, i know that
does not sound great, however splx amps are very cheap because my four
channel 1000Watt splx amp runs my JBL 6*9\'s they get 250 watts each with
the power gain set to minimum and i bridged the other to Channels to 500
watts and for the price!
Of £130 this does the job well enough, how ever if you use a jbL amp i'm
sure its going to sound the best because they're designed to work together,
because to get the best out of this sub you have to match up the RMS of your
sub with an amp and all though i said i have bridged my amp to put 500 watts
through it i think thats probably the peak power because they are trying to
make people think wow that will be supplying my sub with a constant 500
watts when the truth is you won't, Anyway the sub looks and sounds good and at
motorworld they're 50 quid and that is without a box top price top sub,
Golden rule: stay within 10% +/- of the max RMS power rating of speaker any
quries. Rating:
