This morning the BBC announced that the government are pushing for legislation to make holding a mobile telephone whilst driving a vehicle an offence of dangerous driving which carries a penalty of up to two years in prison. It is therefore essential that drivers who wish to continue to use there telephones whilts on the move emply the available technology to stay within the current law until the zealots within New Labour push to make using a telephone illegal at all whilst driving. As a pilot I find it an insult to be told that it is dangerous to talk to people on a telephone whilst driving. I am required to Aviate, navigate and communicate BY LAW when flying an aeroplane so I think that the far less demanding task of driving a car is within the encelope of my abilities, but that aside the MEX-BT5000 does offer a car driver the oppoortunity to marry the hitherto divergent technologies of Mobile telephony and car audio. It works great, having tried this units little brother the MEX_BT2500 which required me to re-estabilsh the Bluetooth connection each time I turned it on the BT5000 finds both my PDA which I ues for listening to books through the Audible Player nterface and musicd through Windows Media Player and also have my mobile connected at the same time to make and answer telephone calls. The only significant problem I have encountered to date is that the BT5000 isn;t receiving the details of who I am calling from my phone and puts withheld up on the screen even though it is not. Time preculdes me from writing more at this time but I will give Sony an eight out of ten for customer satisfaction to date.
