Good points: image quality ( 1 megapixel; almost DVD quality), connectivity (composite video, firewire, etc, etc), ease-of-use, feels good to hold (important for holding steady shots, especially when using the MASSIVE zoom on this camcorder) Bad points: slight background noise on quiet shots. To be fair this is hardly noticeable and probably no worse than other similar camcorders. Summary: definitely highly recommended. If this is too expensive for your budget, then I would definitely consider another Sony - maybe the TRV22 or a similar miniDV camcorder from Sony.

This is a superb 1-megapixel camcorder that shoots fantastic movies! The mini-DV format is the one to go for if you are at all serious about the quality of your movies. The combination of a Carl-Zeiss lens and the megapixel CCD provides outstanding picture quality. SOund quality is also very good. Other features that make this cam worth the money are the wide choice of input/output formats, including S-video and USB (handy for xferring pics to your computer). 16:9 widescreen format is also available. One area that could be improved is battery life. You'll find that this thing just eats batteries like there's no tomorrow! But apart from that, you will find this Sony camcorder to be well worth every penny. Go make movies!!!
