I Just bought the Sony DCR-PC330 a week ago. When I opened the box, I can\'t help but notice quality. Years ago, my first video camera was a Canon, it was expensive and was disposable. I admire the technology that Canon produce but based on my past experience, their product break easily. I then bought a sony 8mm video cam and I it still works today, it\'s been 8 years since I bought it. I waited long enough to replace it though, I could have picked the DCR-PC105 but I was waited for the price to go down more. After a few months of not researching for video cameras, last week I started again and that is when I first saw the DCR-PC330. I must say I fell in love with the specifications right then. I went ahead and compare the sony with other brands in the same price range but again, I was reluctant to try the other brands\' quality again. The camera didn\'t come with a separate battery charger, this is my first dissapointment to be honest, a camera that cost $1700.00 should have a stand alone charger. You don\'t want the camera heating up when charging. My old sony camera had one. In my mind it is another expense I have to deal with. Then I realized it didn\'t come with a minidv tape either. When you buy an electronics over the internet, your first tendency is to check it out and make sure it works so you can return it immediately for replacement or refund. Sony must realize that a little graciouness would go a long way to build good relationship with their customers, like a free minidv tape. I was prepared though, I bought a pack of these mini tapes beforehand. After the battery was charged I immediately tested the camera. My first word was WOW! The menu driven LCD touch screen was very easy to navigate. I am impressed on how organized the set of menus were in. Then came the actual video taking, I must tell you all that this camera is worth the price. Videos I\'ve taken have vivid colors, very sharp, and very lifelike. But then my happiness having a new camera was suppressed again after taking just a few pictures with the highest resolution in its tiny memory stick card. The card only had 16 mb of space so I only got ten pics out of it. When I reviewed the pictures on my computer and made test prints from my printer,my dissapointment somehow went away by just how nice the pictures came out. I am a performance driven electronics enthusiast, and I don\'t take into account small weaknesses of a product. Having high quality videos and pictures of my kids and family to me is priceless. The camera was expensive and I went way over my budget for this one but I was confident it will be worth it. If a product performs as it should or better, if it\'s easy to use, and it\'s durable then I give the highest praise. I only did some limited tests but overall, I am very satisfied and happy with my purchase. My wife even said she loves it already. I am just glad my hard earned money was not wasted. If I invest on a video light, external battery charger, a memory stick pro, and higher capacity batteries, I think I\'ll enjoy the videos and pictures taken by this video camera for years to come.
