This is my first digital video recorder. I have found it simple to use and the controls are both accessible and user-friendly. There are many special effects available to use and you can buy add-ons (light, mic etc) to enhance the photographic experience which are "easy-install" via the hot-shoe mounting. The video recording is of excellent quality. The only gripe I have is the dodgy quality of the still photo facility. This is not a megapix camera and it shows.

This is an excellent camera and the only reason that I have awarded it 3 stars and not more is by comparison with the MV600i. The MV650i is a heck of a lot more expensive than its cheaper sibling, and really the differences in features don't justify the added cost. The only real differences are that you can take still images and you have a better zoom. The still images are not that great, being less than 1 megapixel, so the difference in cost cannot be justified in my mind. Having got that off my chest, I can say that the camcorder is am excellent one, with good quality detailed images, plenty of digital effects options and good software to go with it. The direct print feature is quite neat, but as already mentioned the still images aren't as high a quality as my Canon digital camera, which cost a lot less by the way.
