Reviewed by Massimo on 20/02/2007I have had problems with the loading mechanism. I get the "remove cassette" message very often, sometimes I cannot close the cassette compartment even without a cassette and when I do not get that message and I manage to film, the image is completely distorted with mosaic like effects, notwithstanding the fact I have been constantly using the head cleaning cassette. Rating: ![]() Reviewed by Les on 20/07/2006 I had a bad experience with the MV30i. It decided to not load the tape and then decided not to eject the tape, and the tape carrier mechanism (which is way too fussy) stalled and will not go in or out. The camera is 4 years old and cost around A$1700 and has been treated very well with no drops etc. The cost to repair it is around $450-$500. We have reached the age of the disposable digital video camera (how sad). I bought a 3ccd Panasonic this time around. I'll keep my fingers crossed. Rating: ![]() Reviewed by Peter Herriman on 23/05/2006 I have had the MV30i for a number of years now, and its a love hate relationship with it. I love the optical stabilisation, it was the main reason I bought this camera over the others. Most of my work is hand-held either proped agains something, or gun like stance (not the cowboy type - but the steady shot type) and moving around crowds taking video at public events for historical purposes. I definietly hate the tape mechanism. It has chewed my tapes again and again. I had it in for service during warranty and then it kept saying the tape was at its end. it seems to be heaps worse in the heat - and yes! here in Australia it does get bloody hot. this is when it will come up saying message - tape at end. i have tried all sorts - forward the tape and rewind before use etc. Often to keep the camera going I have had to open the tape eject side and keep gently blowing into it. Now it has again done its dash and chewed another tape. I am now looking for another camera. maybe I got a brumby? I don't know - went looking for review now - but on not finding any - here I am writing one. Has anyone had any good runs with one? Also not too keen on the LCD screen - impossible to see it in the daylight, which makes for interesting shooting. Well thats about all I have to say on the camera Rating: ![]()
